What is Journey Kids?
We feel that it is important to engage children and adults with special needs in a setting that is conducive to them and their needs. On Sundays, we provide 2 separate opportunities for adults and children. Children (up to age 12) meet at 9:35 am and 11:10 am, and we have a youth/adults (age 12+) only class that meets at 11:10 am.
Trained volunteers lovingly serve the children and adults and do whatever it takes to help them learn about Jesus on their level.
Check in at the Guest Services Trailer on the children’s wing side for both the children and adults classes.
To better prepare for your arrival, please reach out to Kristi Hinton our special needs director with any questions or just to let her know you are coming.
Your First Visit
Come to the Guest Services Trailer. We will meet your family, check your child into our database system, and one of our volunteers will lead your child to their age-appropriate room.
We will ask for the following personal information: family members’ names, children’s names and birthdates, address, phone number, and any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your child.
How Check-In Works
You may check in your child at any available iPad station located throughout the children’s lobby. After finding your child’s name in the database, you and your child will be given matching identification tags that are exclusive to your family and your visit. Your child will need to wear the name tag portion while you keep the matching tag. After the service, you will return to your child’s room and show your tag in order for your child to be released back to you.
In the event that we need to contact you during the service, you will receive a text message. We ask that you exit the auditorium and look for a staff member or guest services volunteer who will direct you to your child’s room.
On the Ride Home
On your way home, be sure to ask your child questions like, “Did you have fun?” and “What did you learn today?” It’s our goal that every child has a positive answer to these two questions every week!
Mom’s Nursing Room
A mom’s nursing room is available for moms with nursing babies. This is a “Moms Only” room for women with newborn babies to view the service in a more private and quiet environment.
Through the ministry of Precious Stones, we are able to engage children with special needs. Trained volunteers lovingly serve these children and do whatever it takes to help them learn about Jesus on their level. Every child matters to us.
